Sally's School

........new nursery school for KASENEI

"Sally's School" (above) now nearing completion at Kasenei will fulfill a great need in the local community. Having previously used the traditional wicker church behind the children (below), they needed a decent building in which to accomodate the18 young children being taught, but because of the extreme poverty of the location, this was impossible to achieve. AAF took note of the problem and later an AAF supporter wished to raise funds to carry out a project in memory of his wife who had recently passed away.

The construction of "SALLY'S SCHOOL" was started in  April 2009 by AAF's Jacob Mulyungi with the voluntary assistance of the community who made the bricks and carried the local materials, sand, ballast and water, to the site as the building progressed.

At the present time (Sept 09) the building is nearing completion with only the painting, the roof gutters and the 5,000ltr. water tank to be fitted, together with the installation of the desks which will be made by the carpentery students at a local polytechnic college.

Since building was commenced, roll numbers at the school have increased from 18 to just over 50 children.

The new building is capable of accomodating nearly 100 children,
