What We Do
Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest rates of education exclusion. Over one fifth of children between the ages of 6 and 11 are out of school, followed by one third between the ages of 12 and 14.
Clean water is essential for life. Women and children in sub-Saharan Africa will often travel an average of a 6k round-trip to a water source where water is then often contaminated with disease.
Welcome to the
Akamba Aid Fund
The Akamba Aid Fund focuses on three main areas:
- Provision of clean water and sanitation
- General health, including focus on eye care and women’s health
- Education at Primary and Secondary level
A little money goes a long way in Kenya and our charity can only survive through your generosity and kindness. Every penny you donate finds its way to the Akamba families that so desperately need assistance. We, as trustees, give our time and experience for free and pay our own expenses to ensure this happens. With your help and support we can make a real difference.
On behalf of the Akamba families, we thank you.
Akamba Aid Fund is an independent charity based in South Somerset, founded in 2000 by Denis Cannon with the aim of enabling the poorest rural communities in Eastern Kenya to have access to the essentials of life.
We base ourselves in Kitui County working primarily in the Mwingi central sub-county, an area approximately 240kms north east of Nairobi,Kenya. This is a remote and rural area, where many people are surviving below the poverty line.
There are currently seven trustees whogive freely of their time and experience to support the aims and objectives of the charity visitingKenya at their own expense to initiate, supervise and monitor ongoing work.
